12 noon to 1 pm
Episcopal ceremony
The Episcopal marriage ceremony will be held at Frances' family church. It will start promptly at noon and should last about an hour. The times for events later in the day are approximate, depending on how leisurely we are in proceeding from one event to the next!
1 pm to 2 pm
Light lunch and refreshments
After the first ceremony, a light lunch will be served. If the weather permits, this will be outdoors on the church grounds.
2 pm to 5 pm
Vedic ceremony
The Hindu wedding ceremony will start with the baraat, the procession of the groom along with his family and friends, to be welcomed by the bride's family outside the building. After that, we will all proceed into the sanctuary, with the bride and groom seated under the mandap, the wedding canopy. The ceremony will be conducted in Sanskrit, but we will provide an explanation of the rituals so that all can share in the event.
The ceremony will last for a couple of hours, but guests are not expected to sit quietly for that whole time! This is a festive occasion, with everyone making new acquaintances, chatting, and enjoying delicious snacks.
